Steve, a school teacher of 20 years experience has been involved in Judo for a significant amount of time, training and competing under past Olympians at the University of NSW, University of Sydney, with visiting Japanese Masters and through the PCYC movement.

He has medalled at State level during his competitive fighting career, and internationally in Judo Kata. He has coached at various dojo, including Jannali, UNSW and Sutherland PCYC.

Due to his profession, Steve is fully qualified with and possessed exceptional educational credentials and teaching skill.

Through Head SCJJA Instructor Rodney Ellis' appreciation of Japanese, as well as Brazillian grappling disciplines, Steve was presented with the opportunity to coach Judo at Southern Cross Jiu Jitsu Academy, in a fully Judo Federation of Australia affiliated setting. Thus giving Southern Cross members even more value for money, including internationally recognised grades, and opening the path to the possibility of Olympic selection.

Steve's love of fighting has also lead him to cross-train in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu at SCJJA in order to further develop his own skills and better tailor Judo sessions to meet the needs of BJJ fighters wishing to work on their stand up game.
